More than a post a day

By Jonathan - Posted on 08 May 2009

Last week I came to the realization I had finished phase 1 of my blogging, which was to practice writing every weekday possible. I can write a blog post and be happy with it. Now I want to do more than add a new post a day.

I want to post key thoughts, ideas, and analyses. I want it to be more than a post a day, as in bigger picture, not frequency.

Part of the process was learning how hard it is to write a post a day while working 50ish hours per week, building the site at the same time, and trying to cram in everything else important to me in life (fiancée, laundry, sleep, food, exercise, those things). Sure, if my day job was doing my own thing, I’d have tons of time. Since it’s not, it’s time to put together a few killer posts each week. It’s time to see if anyone new is going to stop by. I may launch a second blog for a different area I am interested in writing on.

It’s also time to write an e-book.

I have no intention of selling this e-book. I want it to be free, and I want people to be entertained AND think about what I write about. I would be happy if a dozen people read it, I’d be thrilled if a hundred read it, and I’m hoping a thousand people download it someday. It will be as short as I can make it while getting my point across.

I’m glad I took a week off from writing to think about what the next step I want to take is.
